For Lightning:

If you hear thunder OR your computer or app shows that lightning has struck within ten miles, suspend activity. If you do not have access to a computer or app that shows the proximity of lightning strikes, suspend play if lightning is seen even if you cannot hear thunder.

For Extreme Heat:

Heat Monitoring Standards and Potential Competition Adjustments
USA Ultimate has invested in a Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) monitoring device used for monitoring heat by many athletic departments, the NCAA, and at professional sporting events. This technology includes measurements of temperature, humidity, wind, cloud cover, and other environmental factors that impact heat stress.
The USA Ultimate Medical Advisory Working Group and event medical directors have worked with event staff to develop ultimate-specific WBGT guidelines, based on their knowledge of ultimate events and researching similarities to other sports.
Event and medical staff will be monitoring the WBGT and making competition and scheduling decisions based on the safety chart below. Conditions will be monitored before each round with the goal of determining any competition adjustments prior to the round. Monitoring will continue during rounds, especially near Heat Precaution thresholds, and some adjustments may be implemented during the round if necessary. Heat Precaution Levels may also be accelerated if medical staff observe a trend of heat-related illness that calls for earlier adjustments.

COVID

USA Ultimate have been working with all players needing to either submit a negative COVID-19 test or wear a mask. They will be working to ensure that our safety precautions will be observed.
We also ask that all participants and staff follow the following precautions and our safety standards:
Practice good hygiene
  • Use hand sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, or no-rinse soap whenever possible.
    Avoid touching your face.
  • Sneeze or cough into a tissue or the inside of your elbow.
Athletes, organizers, and coaches will NOT participate if they feel under the weather, sick, or have come in contact with someone that may be sick.
  • All close contacts1 of a known COVID-positive person "will be removed from the event regardless of vaccination status."
Any individual, age eleven (11) and older, who is not fully vaccinated, is encouraged to wear a medical or non-medical cloth face covering that covers the nose and mouth when entering or within an indoor space where members of different households are present or in circumstances when six feet of distance cannot be maintained or whenever in an enclosed space (e.g., restrooms, tents). **
  • No sharing of water bottles or personal items.
  • Individuals are encouraged to use the hand sanitizer provided at every water station prior to touching the water bottle filling "orange" jugs and should not mingle within the water station tent area.
  • No community event food will be provided and players are encouraged to not share food items.
  • Teams are required to set up their bench areas on opposite sides of the field. Team tents that are provided to each team will be placed on either side of the field. Teams may not move the event tents, but may set up additional team tents (staked). Players from either team can be on either sideline during play but should maintain as much social distance as possible. When a team moves to a new field, they should set up across the field from the team already positioned at the field.
