2025 Regional Talent ID Camp: Colorado

City: Westminster
Date: 6/7/2025 - 6/7/2025
State: CO

WHO:

Players ages 14-19 of all genders who are interested in taking their skills to the next level with instruction from a U.S. National Team coach, especially those who are interested in potentially trying out for a National Team (open, woman/girl-matching, or mixed).  While the camp format will be primarily mixed gender, if there are enough registrants of different genders, campers will be divided up into similar gender groups for some periods of time.

Note: To be eligible to try out for the 2026 World Junior Ultimate Championships (WJUC) in the upcoming tryout cycle, athletes must be at least 14 years old and not yet 20 years old on December 31, 2026. But that max age requirement is not enforced for attending this camp, as it still provides any young player with a beneficial skills development opportunity.

WHAT:

Hosted by Altitude Ultimate, and operated by U.S. National Team Coach Carolyn Matthews, this full day Talent ID camp is designed to give attendees insight and experience in the skills, tactics and challenges employed at U20 National Team tryouts. It will be an opportunity for players to receive a better understanding of their own skills, where they can improve, learning from other players and new coaches, along with a glimpse into U.S. National Team culture and tryout processes. While the format will be primarily mixed gender, if there are enough registrants of different genders, campers will be divided up into similar gender groups for some periods of time.

Carolyn "C" Matthews has been involved with multiple cycles and delegations of the U.S. National Team program, most recently as a player for Molly Blue that won a bronze medal in the grand masters women's division at the 2024 World Masters Ultimate Championships in Irvine, California.  Previously, she represented the U.S. as a player on the 2016 Women's Masters National Team that won gold in London, UK, and she was an Assistant Coach for the 2015 U23 Women's National Team that won a silver medal in London, UK, and for the 2013 team that won gold in Toronto, Ontario. Carolyn coached Colorado Cutthroat U20 girls division teams at the Youth Club Championships (YCC) for 2 summers, and she coached, captained, and played in the women's division at the club national championships with Molly Brown (2012-18) and its predecessor Rare Air.  She has been competing with Molly Blue in the grand masters women's division of masters nationals since 2023 (national champions).  Carolyn was first introduced to Ultimate at a high school cross-country camp in New Jersey but truly learned the game after moving to Boulder in 2001 to attend the University of Colorado (CU) and playing in four DI college championship semifinals (2002-0305-06) in the women's division with CU's Kali (now Quandary).
