WHO:
Players ages 14-19 of all genders who are interested in taking their skills to the next level with instruction from a U.S. National Team coach, especially those who are interested in potentially trying out for a National Team (open, woman/girl-matching, or mixed). While the camp format will be primarily mixed gender, if there are enough registrants of different genders, campers will be divided up into similar gender groups for some periods of time.
Note: To be eligible to try out for the 2026 World Junior Ultimate Championships (WJUC) in the upcoming tryout cycle, athletes must be at least 14 years old by the date of the camp and must not turn 20 before January 1, 2027. But players do not have to meet those tryout age requirements in order to attend this camp, as it still provides any young player with a beneficial skills development opportunity.
WHAT:
Hosted by Illinois Ultimate, and operated by U.S. National Team Coach Reid Koss, this full day Talent ID camp is designed to give attendees insight and experience in the skills, tactics and challenges employed at U20 National Team tryouts. It will be an opportunity for players to receive a better understanding of their own skills, where they can improve, learning from other players and new coaches, along with a glimpse into U.S. National Team culture and tryout processes. While the format will be primarily mixed gender, if there are enough registrants of different genders, campers will be divided up into similar gender groups for some periods of time.
Reid Koss has been involved with multiple cycles of the U.S. National Team program, having served as Head Coach of the U20 Open Team since 2018. He will lead the 2026 U20 Open National Team at the World Junior Ultimate Championships (WJUC) in Logroño, Spain on June 20-27, 2026, after having led the 2024 open team to a gold medal in Birmingham, UK. Previously, he coached the 2022 team to gold in Wroclaw, Poland, after leading the short-lived 2020 Team whose world championship event was cancelled due to the COVID pandemic, and coaching the 2018 team to gold in Waterloo, Canada. He has also coached high-level teams in multiple age divisions at national championships, including Seattle-based mixed adult club team BFG (2024 semifinalists) as well as Seattle area U17 boys division teams (2012-2019 champions) at the Youth Club Championships (YCC). As a player, Reid won a gold medal with the 2016 Mixed National Team at the World Ultimate & Guts Championships (WUGC) in London, UK. He played for many years with Seattle-based adult club team Sockeye (2010-17, 2013 & 2015 finalists) in the men's division, then with Seattle-based adult club team BFG (2019-23, 2021 champions) in the mixed division, along with Seattle-based masters team Voltron 2020 (2017-23, 2019/2021/2022 champions) in the men's division.
