General
Captains can generally agree before the game to make modifications, but no changes to length (i.e. time or point caps) are permitted in pool play games. Changes to length in a semifinal requires consent from the captains in the parallel game.
College Women
- Games to 13
- Round time: 120 min
- Halftime cap: 40 min (finish the current point - if no team has reached 7 then add one to the higher score and that’s the new halftime target)
- 10-Minute half
- Soft cap: 90 min (finish the current point - if no team has reached 13 then add one to the higher score and that’s the new game target)
- Hard cap: 105 min (finish the current point - the game is over unless tied)
- 1 timeout per half + 1 floater (time-outs are allowed during time caps)
- Pool play ties broken via the typical USAU tiebreaker rules
Mixed

No timecaps during final or third-place game (unless captains decide otherwise).
Pool play and semifinal timecaps:
-
Round time: 120 min

-

-
Hard cap: 105 min 10-Minute half 2 timeouts per half (time-outs are allowed during time caps)
Pool play ties broken via the typical USAU tiebreaker rules
Mixed captains can decide before the game how the 4:3 gender ratio is determined for each point, but in the absence of an agreement then a genzone will be determined (usually flipping discs with the winner making the decision) before the game starts.
Two-point scores
-
Two-point score results when the thrower and receiver are opposite genders, the thrower hucked it from beyond the half-field line, and no other offensive player touched it in between the half-field line and the goal line. If an offensive player in the end zone deflects it to another offensive player also in the end zone then they have to be the same gender to avoid negating the bonus point e.g. male thrower to male deflector to female receiver is a one-pointer.
-
Once hard cap takes effect there are no two-pointers available except for a disc already in the air. The reason for this rule dates back many years to a game that went 30 minutes late into the next round because the losing team was behind by exactly two points and were maneuvering for the tying two-pointer to force universe point.
-
Contested two-pointer: If the defending team concedes that it was a score, but believes it didn't qualify as a two-pointer and the subsequent discussion doesn't change minds then the offensive team can either accept it as a one-pointer or choose to send the disc back to the thrower and have everyone reset to the time of the throw as if it were a contested foul.
-
The thrower’s pivot point must be behind the half-field line when the throw is released. Other parts of the body may be forward of the line e.g. straddling the line is okay.
